Last week, we all met an adorable young lady named Anala Beevers. She is from New Orleans and enjoys many of the things children her age do. But, her extremely high IQ of 145, which puts her in the top 1-percent of IQ scores globally, is what makes her stand out from the crowd. This 4-year-old genius was invited to join MENSA, an exclusive “Members Only” society committed to acknowledging the scholastic aptitude of those with extremely high IQ scores.

Women of color have proven to be some of the most talented, intelligent, radiant, and poised women alive. Gabrielle Union, actress, activist, and former model, is no exception.

We have all come to know and love Union over the years. She has played the endearing love interest in hit box office films while also capturing roles of grit and action. We learned on a recent airing of Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Next Chapter that, behind the scenes, Union has struggled with some of the core tenets of worth like altruism, reciprocity, and magnanimity. She recently released her newest album “Songversation,” performed at the 2013 BET Awards, and sat with Oprah for “Super Soul Sunday” two weeks in a row on OWN. Her authentic style, poise, and message of self-worth has garnered her a spot on the “Shining” wall of fame here at The Worth Campaign.

From her 2002 hit ” Video” to her 2006 release of “I am Not My Hair,” Arie has made music to uplift and adulate the phenotype of women of color. And while her music has been her foremost example of this endeavor, Arie’s presence in the spotlight has done much more to represent these women on a grand stage. Her powerful vocals coupled with her embodiment of confidence in one’s natural form are what truly make her a gem in a community typically marred by stereotypes and misrecognition.

Serena Williams Shines on the ‘Body Issue’ Cover of Essence Magazine

serena williams essence coverSerena Williams is a gorgeous lady. Not only that, she is a world renown athlete. And, the July 2013 edition of Essence magazine, the “Body Issue”, will highlight the radiant young woman of color on a grand scale. The athletic beauty also guest edited the edition of the magazine geared toward black women. And, within its covers, she addressed the topic of her curvy figure and the criticism she previously received.

A great example for curvy women of color, her gorgeous cover shows a proud woman who accepts herself as is.
